Troop 127 was formed in 1974 and has been continuously chartered since then by Holy Apostles Catholic Church in eastern Colorado Springs. We look forward to celebrating or 35th anniversary in 2009.
We are a boy-led adult-guided Troop, which means the elected boy leaders plan and carry out the program. Our program includes an activity every month and most of those are campouts. We travel all over the state of Colorado but we are fortunate to have lots of good camping within a three-hour drive. Some of our typical activites include:
* Sub-zero tent camping in Leadville in January
* Camping and hiking at the Great Sand Dunes
* Sleeping in the Koshare Kiva in La Junta
* Skiing in Winter Park
* Sledding at Camp Alexander
* Backpacking at Twin Lakes
* Rafting on the Arkansas River
* Camping at the Royal Gorge
* Air Force Academy Football Games
* YMCA Lock-in
* Camping in Pike National Forest
* Summer Camp
We use the Robert Baden-Powell's Patrol Method. We have four patrols that include the Dragons, Spartans, Phantoms, and Sharpies (Ventures). Each patrol is equipped for camping and cooking as a unit.
We have achieved Quality Unit status continuously for over ten years and we aim to continue that streak. We have also produced over 60 Eagle Scouts.
We always welcome visits from Webelos and any boy looking for a Troop home. When you come, we will make you an honorary member of one of our patrols so that you can experience the meeting just like our members do. We also have special recruiting events in the Fall months, so please contact us if you would like more information. Come find out what we mean when we say "Attitude, Gotta Have It"
